When flight KA691 to Penang/PEN, carrying 295 people, was taxiing out for a 25L departure, a delivery van crashed into the Airbus' left-hand engine number #1, leaving its driver trapped in the vehicle with injuries to head and shoulder.
The driver of the van was taken to North Lantau Hospital, and today it was reported by the "South China Morning Post" that he had told co-workers before the incident that he was feeling unwell.
The investigation is continuing.
Best of luck to the driver for a speedy and full recovery!
Note: The very same aircraft was also involved in a serious incident in 2010 (then flying for Cathay Pacific under the same registration) when it operated flight CX780 from Surabaya, facing control problems on both engines when approaching Hong Kong Airport due to contaminated kerosin.
