The Nakano Sun Clock is an Automaton clock, a type of striking clock featuring automatons. Clocks like these were often built during the Middle Ages in Europe. A Cuckoo clock is a simple form of this type of clock. Often, the automatons come out on the hour to strike the bells. More recently-constructed automaton clocks are widespread in Japan, where they are known as karakuri-dokei. (Source Wikipedia) The Nakano Sun Clock is a notable example of such an automaton clock. Every hour the four sun clock faces flip around and little figures playing musical instruments appear. However, it's not the clock that makes Nakano famous. It's the Nakano Sun Plaza (中野サンプラザ) hotel.
