Bratislava castle
The history of Bratislava began with the castle that rises above the Danube. The first written mention of the City dates back to 907, although archaeologists believe that the fortifications here were still in the Roman era.
The city took its modern shape in the 15th century. It was rebuilt many times, the defensive value of the castle was gradually replaced by the cultural one. But in 1811, there was a fire here, and the Hail lay in ruins for more than 140 years. It was restored only in the second half of the 20th century. Today, this white building with red roofs is clearly visible from different points of the city.
